Poem
She heard them loud and clear that was the night, her life changed, deep down inside her heart and soul she thinks they had it prearranged. Music played softly in the background but she could hear it so clear, "Let me know, if I hurt you" was the next thing she did hear. There was a pull out bed downstairs in the living room, that's where it all happened and where their marriage was doomed. The wife was sick with a cold and drunk from Peppermint Schnapps, she knew exactly what went on out of their bed she hopped. The bedroom door was locked he didn't want her falling down the stairs, he asked her what was wrong the love she felt, was no longer there. He went back downstairs after she said she had to use the bathroom, she tried to stop the tears six years before that, they were bride and groom. They were sitting in the kitchen wondering what was going on, she was crying quietly upstairs she didn't know that she was conned. She crept her way down the stairs wiping the tears from her eyes, she was filled with much rage and knew he'd be filled with lies. They were sitting in the kitchen whispering to each other, he was checking her neck for a hickey she hid; watching like being under cover. His night with her was ruined by a wife, that didn't know, listening to them making love with the music turned down low. The wife went to the bathroom her life, no longer filled with wealth, that was when she noticed bra and underwear sitting on the shelf. The wife knew something was going on because he only wears his house coat, but "she" was wearing it the wife's rage was quickly afloat. This was the wife's first marriage and the second marriage for him, the second marriage brought them three children they didn't get married on a whim. They were father and daughter but why couldn't the second wife see? She looked exactly like her dead mother but he couldn't let it be. The daughter was at the age of consent let's get back to the fact, they should have known better on impulse, you shouldn't react. She wanted to confront them but they were drinking that night too, it was sure nice to know he found someone else to screw. Copyright Cynthia Jones May.22/2015 I have never penned this kind of a write before. Sorry if it's out there. I just wanted to try to write something different.
