OOOPS! Contest Sponsor: John Lawless Date Written: February 29, 2016 FIRST POEM Somewhere between yes and no, where maybe doesn't matter, I slipped beneath the surface carrying your poor intentions. I suffered from those pitiable little private pieces of your clandestine verbal agreement. I knew I should've never trusted your counterfeit wealth. Beliefs upon my reality, missing pieces of jumbled yesterdays from past regressions. I needed acceptance into receiving willing patience and forgiving you for your relentless violence. I don't need any more reassurance than you have already given me. Once...maybe a mistake. Twice...scared me to death. Thrice...never again. You think you demolished my innocence. You think you damaged my essence irreparably. Your thoughts may be confused with your guiltless ambition. Sure....my aspirations slowly deflated with each swing and every coarse word you shrieked, but I am robust now. Because of your potent relationships with others, you dragged your character defects into your relationship with me. It has been established beyond doubt that you can't love without pain. When there is pain, there is you. When there is no pain, there is no you...without you...I am... FREE... alive without you you can not hurt me again I'm finally free ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date Written: March 3, 2016 SECOND POEM I have fallen beneath the surface of your intentional abuse. Your revilement crushed me and I thought I was unable to live in a universe with constant contentment. You used your childhood as an illustration on how not to be a real man. You were never a real man. I was an exemplar of good success; people actually find it necessary to love me. Your necessity was to damage my inner core. The breaks and the bruises have finally subsided. You may think you destroyed my innocence, but I broke our bond before we were ever alliances. Keep telling yourself you demolished my essence, but I have been redemptive through our marriage, saving my soul for a true man to love me in completeness. This marriage has been destructive in ways there is no explanation. That ring on my finger will never be worn in my hopeful future. Your defects were carried from your previous relationships. I am not the only woman. I am one of many women. You thought you broke me. I am finally free from your relentless devastation you call love. Here's the thing.I will never be forced verbally or physically, AGAIN... you have no power I am the better person I believe in me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
