Poem
>I've written many poems since coming out of hospital, none before. Most poems seem to be inspired by what I see in life, as no doubt many other poets, (cough, cough,) are affected this way. Some just appear, like this one did to me. Fortunately I had pen and paper to hand so wrote it down, just as it came. I am including it here out of sequence to my notes, as it relates to the hospital theme. The time by the way is 01:25 hours on the 29th May 2013 just over a year from my last operation. An Angel in disguise. To me they're Angels, I know I'm right. Caring for one, by day and night. When I was ill, to see them near. Filled me with hope, dispelled my fear. When I was low, sometimes did cry. They stopped and cared, not passed me by. So if to hospital you go one day. Do not worry, that's what I say. But if you do, I'm sure you'll see. A nurse like those, that cared for me. The nights seem longer than the day. They're not, it just seems that way. But it's that time, things don't seem right. Summon a nurse, soon they'll come. Walking quickly, almost run. Sometimes their torches shine a light. Seeking you out, in the dark night. Your fears are quelled, they wait a while. Soon your fear turns to a smile. Thanking them, they have to go. To tend to others ill you know. So thank you nurses one and all. For being there when I did call. Helping me, when I felt low. You must be Angels, I say so. This poem was sent to Ipswich hospital UK. Discovery@Ipswichhospital.NHS.uk 1-6-13. Mind you, I haven't got the faintest idea whether they used it or not. I did, on page 15 of my first poetry book.
