Poem
Two ladies brought a dog home from the vet, And told their Lucy mouse he was her pet. The dog dragged food on floors throughout the house, But did not see dear tiny Lucy mouse, Who watched the dog and loved his romping play, While biting shoes and chairs throughout the day. The ladies of the house were not too glad, And thought the happy dog was somewhat bad. They pointed to his crate and in he went. He thought that nap time always was well spent. The dreams that lived inside his doggy head Were sweeter still when laying in his bed. Our Lucy mouse peeped out behind a crack And saw her dog was snoring on his back. His black wet nose was something new to munch For hungry flies out looking for some lunch. She raced out from her hole and to the crate To save her dog before it was too late. She scampered up his leg and to his ear, Then down his snout just as the flies flew near. She watched them as they circled round his snout, Then took a mighty breath and blew it out, Which threw the flies off course and out the door, As Lucy gasped and tumbled to the floor. Her little toe was bent a little bit, But given all, she still was feeling fit. She called out, “Dog, I love you best of all!” And ran back to her hole within the wall. The ladies called their dog and up he rose, And never knew that Lucy saved his nose.
