NEWS FLASH!!!
Yeah, I read it and hear it all the time-
But I’m sick of reading the headlines,
And I’m tired of hearing the news-
I cry for the kids and old ones,
‘cause so many are being abused.
Shootings here - beatings there,
Daily crime happening everywhere-
I cry for the elephant chained for 50 years,
I’m sick of lawyers saying, “It’s not what it appears-“
The rapist gets an early release from jail – he’s free,
Until he gets caught on his next raping spree.
I cry for the victims, it’s so terribly sad,
Has our justice system really gone mad?
A 15 year old dies retrieving her stolen phone – that’s fact,
A man, standing in a fast food line, gets stabbed in the back-
I cry for the babies left in hot cars that die,
And I shake my head and ask, “ God, Why?”
A home invasion goes awry-
A man kicks a door in and executes a family of six-
A man on his yacht dies of a forced drug fix-
All of this bad news makes me SICK-SICK-SICK!

NEWS FLASH !!!
Only you have the power to change laws,
Especially if they’re flawed-
Don’t sit idly back, ask why, or cry-
It’s with your persistence in calls, actions and letters,
That maybe life for some can be made better!
