Poem
There she sat so far from home So far from the ones she loved And the only place she'd ever really known She knew she'd done what she had to But it doesn't make the distance any easier to bare She's here to make a fresh start Taken away from all the distractions of home No temptations from her past No longer surrounded by those who brought her down No one knows where she's from or what she's done For once she can finally move forward At only 22 she's been thru more than most at her age She's seen the good, the bad, and the different Starting over in a new place is never easy But there is a little man back home that is depending on her And as his mommy she refuses to let him down Time and time again she has been knocked down And every time for him she finds the coverage To get up and give it another try She's been down and discouraged But his every smile and 'I love you, Mommy!' Makes her stronger and stronger everyday The distance from him is killing her He is her world, her everything He is her every reason for breathing And so she continues to remind herself That she did what she had to do for him To be a better woman and a better mother Cuz there's nothing in this world more important to her She now has the time and space To focus on the things she neglected in the past And to really find herself and get things in order She has much work to do And so much more to prove But she knows that when no one else stands behind her Her own mother is watching over her and guiding her Though it would be so much easier with her here She makes it known that she is watching out for her baby girl There in that last year or so Her mom became more than just the mom she'd never been She became the girl's best friend The one she confided in The one she told her deepest darkest secrets to And the one person in the young girl's life That supported her every move no matter what it might've been And the loss of her mom and her best friend Made her feel as if she'd lost a piece of herself And there for a good while she fell apart and really lost sight She forgot about who and what was truly important And had it not been for her baby boy Who could really say if she would've ever found her way again But because of him and him alone Still somehow she managed to get back up and try again A battle was lost but the war remains And she is determined that no matter how many battles she must lose In the end she can and will WIN THIS WAR!!!!!!
