Poem
The clock hits 3am She sits quietly in the still of her own room With her headphones in quietly she listens Until that one song began to play Yea you know the one It hits so close to home And she finds herself going thru old picture albums The one that shows when she used to be his everything When she meant so much more to him Than just another friend Just another girl he used to know One he used to love more than life itself Every now and then he'll call just to check in And every now and then she reminds him Of little things here and there about what used to be They talk about the good old days Laugh about all the good times they once shared But once all is said and done they say their goodbyes Does he know that for her it never stops there? Those days may be long gone for him But it's those memories that she still holds onto Still keeps them very dear to her heart And though she will always love him She has had to learn to live without him She's slowly moving on with her life But the closer she gets to someone new She thinks back to the love they once shared And she knows that no one else will ever compare He's even confessed he felt the same They've both dated other people Both said their own 'I Love Yous' And yet no matter what the best of friends they remain She still loves him And he still loves her If there's one thing they both agree on It's that they'll never find another love like theirs And she'd give anything to have that again Never truly understanding why he continues to hold back But she knows that she can't spend forever waiting on someone Who just isn't sure of what he wants in life She'll never find another love like his And his memory will never fade Forever her favorite memory he will be But she must let go She's held on for so long But she just can't do it alone In her heart he'll always be her best friend But together again they may never be And she's learned to be ok with that For one reason and one alone 'If you love something set it free, If it comes back then it's meant to be, And if it doesn't, Then it was never really truly yours from the start.'
