Oh pride, pride, I do have pride
Pride of my country, pride in my siblings, and my nephews and niece
I am proud of me too, I am a survivor, proud of every single word that I pen ~
Think, if one had zero pride what would we be 
So, to me  a certain amount of pride is okay
Cloud my judgement not    head up in every downfall   able to stand proud . . 

Oh greed, greed, it can be excessive
The need for material things, such as money, cars, symbols of wealth
I work hard so I can live in this nice Victorian apartment ~ 
Have food to eat, even indulged in a big screen television
Does that mean greed?  No simply, rewards for hard work
An always seeking    putting things before this life   the need is endless . . . 

Oh lust, lust, that sweet desire for love and power 
Within each of us is this need to love and to be loved, to have
For me lust is fine as long as it is two-sided ~
Not directed at someone who does not return the love. 
That is just unnatural, and the need for power, being number one is wrong
Oh I recall him    the deep love and sweet passion    at his tomb I weep . . .

Oh anger, anger, that wrath that involves many feelings
It is a useless emotional response, a hurt
We feel violated and it triggers the fight brain response ~
Wanting revenge with hasty and sudden responses
Thankfully in my life, I just walk away
Negative feelings    silence    poison pen  gossip    I just turn away . . . 

Oh gluttony, gluttony, over-indulgence
Guilty at Christmastime for sure, I over did it at dinner
And I did gulp down that box of chocolates given as a gift ~
But that is not everyday and I do give food to the poor
Well maybe me and my friend did gulp down buttered popcorn at the movies
I saw a man lost    and gave him my chicken meal    I had more at home . . .

Oh envy, envy, you green eyed monster
If it creates hate that is bad but it can create striving to be better
Make one want to be better, do better, accomplish more ~
To envy and admire another is fine, but to want to topple them so wrong
Go about making a plan on how to defeat them, is wrong, wrong
Outdo and undo    deep emotional thoughts    be happy with you . . . 

Oh sloth, sloth, that is definitely  me on days off
I am physically totally inactive, so guilty of doing nothing, NOTHING
Loving my respite from work, guilty of snail behaviour ~
Lazy and idle as a snail, that is me on days off from my high stress job
Just love the stillness of home, the tranquility of nothingness
A lover of sleep    a dreamer of dreams and dreams    sweet serenity . . .
