My Beautiful Encounter I’ll never forget the first time I met You. It was at Mass on Christmas morning. You were there and so was I. I’d seen You at Mass before but we had never really met. This time I happened to notice You looking at me. At first I couldn’t understand why You were gazing at me so intensely. I looked away and back again but You were still there. I looked over my shoulder to see if it was the person behind me You were looking at. But no, it was definitely me. It was like You were standing directly in front of me Looking down into my face So that I couldn’t help but see Your eyes. Except You didn’t just stand there. You hung there on the Cross in Calvary. And in Your Agony Your eyes spoke only of love and compassion. So much so that I felt compelled to look deep into them. And then it dawned on me. How blind was I to not see what was right in front of my eyes? How close I came to not understanding that it was You. You healed me. You forgave me. It was all thanks to You. I’ll never forget the first time I met You Jesus. It was at Mass on Christmas morning. by Jean McLoughlin 12/01/2016 Winning 15th Place in Rob Carmack's Competition "One of your Best" 01/07/2016 Winning 10th Place in SKAT A's Competition " New Years or Christmas" 01/13/2016 A Message from the Author. This poem is the true story of my divine encounter with Jesus on Christmas Day a few years ago. This poem follows on from the story in my poem 'The Gift of Forgiveness'. This poem describes a vision that became real. At first I hid from His gaze, then later felt very guilty about this. Please read my poem 'Jesus' Eyes - A Sedoka' for a description of Jesus' eyes. Thank you. From Jean
