Why have we poured out our love
on the frozen floor for all to see? 
Why am I gazing at the shards 
of the stained glass of you and me?
Where a picture of pleasure once portrayed. 
Why is it becoming further stained 
not with love and life and lust 
yet pain and shame but mainly blood? 
Why are we so special still 
from so long and far away? 
Why does our dream live on 
Even now we’ve gone separate ways? 
How come the rush 
that is the thought of us 
Still runs through my body like a river of love? 
How come it seems in high tide 
When in truth the banks have but dried? 
We drank from the poison chalice 
Now nothing feels the same 
We never intended any malice 
But we achieved it all the same! 
Maybe the echoes will reach us 
From the wants and craves we shout
Cajoled by the lack of trust  
And the truth shadowing clouds. 
And why do I still pour my heart out? 
When I get in return but nowt. 
Do you drink it to feed your ego? 
Or to feel secure and safe. 
Does it make you feel warm from cold. 
Knowing I'm drunk on all the pain? 
Am I drunk on all the pain?
I need not remind you  
How once we used to say.. 
“We’re different from the rest… 
Forever and Always”  
So all I say is raise the chalice 
And toast it, with me, all away. 
If nothing else, just do it 
in the name of yesterday.
