Poem
It seems every time I begin to let the light out that hides inside of me The world breaks me down and reminds me this some things are meant to be But now things have changed because I no longer allow the world to rule my soul I now walk a higher path and thanks to Jesus Christ my Savior I've been made whole It's crazy how all the pain of a lifetime can come together in the end to make you so strong I had to hold fast as I cried out to God and stood on his promises to write the wrong There's no point any longer for me to always try to run and hide The scars I bear tell the story of all the pain of carried deep inside So no more secrets because the time has come for me to begin to share at all As a somehow try to expose all the lies I believed and allowed them to lead to my fall I don't know if there will ever be a point where the end justifies the means I'm just trying to show you that with God things end up so much better than it seems Even though it's only a flicker there's still a light in me that won't burn out As time goes by the rage inside from a lifetime wasted begins to force my whisper into a shout So sit back and soak up these words as my story slowly begins to unfold What you are beginning to hear is truth no lies all the things everybody else left untold For too long now we have been too proud and tried to walk in our own ways But each of us are God's creation put on this earth and programed to give God praise To refuse this calling from the Lord is the same as trying to breathe when there is no air Can a newborn baby protect itself and decide to live without his mother's care? Why do we continue to ignore the signs that are always right here in front of our face Everything from a small flower to the stars in the sky tell us of God's power and grace How is it that so many of us continue to do the same things the same ways and expect to change the results We find it so easy to walk around placing blame everywhere else refusing to take a look at our own faults It wasn't until I humbled myself and bowed down before the Lord that He gave me the strength to stand Now all the things in life that keep me down I can begin to let go of and place in his hand I speak these words inspired from God to maybe save you all the time I carelessly wasted Maybe spare you some of the pain and hate and all the bitter tears that I've tasted I know from experience once you allow God into your life there can only be one outcome Love and peace flow into your soul no matter who you are where you come from I know what it's like to live life lost and alone stained by the guilt of sin But cry out to Jesus with tears from the soul and his spirit will cleanse you from within I speak to you not as someone fed from a golden spoon who has never left the church benches I reach out to you for my own dark places a fellow brother with wounds fresh from Satan's trenches So just know that if God's grace was strong enough to reach down and somehow save someone like me There is nothing you have ever said or done that can keep God from also setting you free
