Poem
So! Now then begins thy fearful Straits As scourged by cruel, licentious Birch Thou whilst surely delate:- All that now is... And all that has gone before, All you once were... And are now no more! For liken to the widening socket That doest so inwardly turn - So submit thee, Meretrix, To the reluctant passions That likewise discern:- Off all the demands uttered by Command - Spoken through the whip - Wielded by the master's hand! The hunting pulse it quickens now - It stirs the beating heart! As harder still, And louder yet, Confounding upon you with all my Vile mischiefs - My cruel exhortations I shall so Impart! For streaming through your Stumbling thoughts You do but hope to dare:- Of a steadfast sanctuary built Offering clemency... While finding blessed peace and Mercy there! For I would lead you, Meretrix, When bound to me and tightly Chained. I would possess you, Meretrix, Throughout forbidden pleasure and Sharply raking pain! I would bend you, Shape you, Heap upon you... Your mortal frame tightly restrained. For what is ever truly lost, My meretrix, If never truly gained? Speak now...Confide in me... Tell me...What is in a name? Baptized unto thou by blessings of Holy waters; Sanctified in the warm glow and Reverence of the most sacred flame; Chosen by an all embracing mother; Coldly chiseled into a crumbling Family shrine. Does the eroding legend boast of Greatness Or heroic deeds sung high? Does it weigh heavily against the Titanic feats Of the mighty and Divine? For again... I would lead you, Meretrix, Through the drawing darkness and Drumming rain. I would possess you, Meretrix, At my idle leisure When you are deceived from all Self-deluded feign. I will chastise you, Drag you sobbing through fiery Firmaments high Whilst your pitiful laments carrying Upon a desolate wind. For can even the purest of Gentiles, My Meretrix, Lawfully claim to have never sinned? Know now your keen soul will soon Fatigue to falter, And all familiar objects shallst fade To dim; Where all rushing fancies stall to Burden - When the heaving lungs conspire To thin! When astral Helios renegades and Tumbles Refuting all the principles of Universal laws... Then, perchance, will defiant Moonlight, Splintering into crystal fragments - Shatter hopelessly over blue Gaias Waveless shores!
