Poem

I woke up angry 
I let the nightstand feel the wrath of my fist 
My tear well had long dried 
I could no longer cry 
Instead I felt a strange dry 
I was at a fiery place 

My head was heavy and my thoughts were not straight 
Things were blurry in there 
Yet sharply piercing 
My heart burned an eternity 

A furtive glance at the old photo on the nightstand 
Crumpled but the image was clearer to me than before 
I felt it more 
So I took the photo and shredded it into pieces 

The fragments of my life lay in front of me 
The life I had believed in so much 
The lies I had feasted on so much 
I was no longer that naiveté 
No longer that foolishness 

The taunts, the jibes, the cruel jokes 
The let me down easy, 
The you could be better if this and that 
The...BAH! I didn't care anymore 
Instead I blazed incessant 

This day, oh this day 
Would be the day 
Of reckoning 
This day would blaze 
Everything in its wake 

This day I would bury my past 
The only life that knew me 
The one life that destroyed me 

And this day as I step out of my house 
A new book of me begins...
