Mary, Jimmy, and Tommy had a garbage can lid full of charcoal burning. They were Homeless but they had each other. Mary was telling Jimmy how she managed to get the free charcoal from the Sav-Mart. She said, " I always walk in and make eye contact with the manager, when he sees me he always comes over and ask me what I want and gives it to me, to get me out of store, ha ha. I use this trick all the time. Jimmy and Tommy smiled, Tommy said, we ain't as dumb as we look , ha Mary, ha ha ha!?" Tommy said, "Well you know I went out and picked bottles all day and went to the redemption center, I managed to get twenty dollars. I got some hot dogs, buns, and mustard. If you want pickle relish your out of luck, ha ha," he laughed. They gather around the fire cooking their hot dogs and enjoying each others company. They had no one else. It was them against the world. Mary would joke and say, " Tommy please pass the silverware." Tommy would respond,"Yes madam." Then they would all crack up. That Christmas Eve they huddled together and leaned against a building to keep warm. Tommy asked Jimmy and Mary, " Would you like a Martini on the rocks before going to bed?" They responded, "Yes." He responded, "Can't help you there." and start laughing. Mary would say to him. "Tommy your such a clown." Tommy was the first to get up. " Merry Christmas everybody!" They simultaneously told him to be quiet. "I am your butler, eggs benedict anyone?"" Shut up Tommy!" Tommy would walk away laughing.. Tommy had some change left so he went to the 7-11 store and bought a Lottery ticket. He bought several of them. The clerk liked Tommy and gave him three coffees, and a sandwich. He wished him good luck. Tommy brought back the coffees for Mary and Jimmy. They huddle around the trash lid and thanked Tommy for the coffee. They all headed to McDonald's to wash up. After that Tommy excused himself and went To the 7-11 to check to see if he had won. The clerk gave him the numbers and Tommy almost dropped dead. He hit the Jackpot several million Dollars. He went back to McDonald's. Jokingly he asked, "Limousine service anyone?" They all laughed at Tommy, until they looked out and saw the Limo. Tommy wasn't joking this time. He said to them lets find a home. They were in disbelief, When Tommy said, "Chauffeur to the real estate agent please. Ha, Ha Ha." Kerry Deschler Christmas Carol
