Poem
You know I used to think you loved us I used to think you cared for us I used to think that you needed us Until the day you sold us You told me you had no choice You said there wasn’t another way You told me that without us life will be better You said all this in the form of a letter You sold me. You sold us. I used to ask myself how you could have sold my brothers and sisters before me How you could have traded one of your very own blood for a complete stranger How you could stand there and watch me burn Then very calmly take a turn Now I know. I know you sold me and my soul Because you wanted money to build your hole Had you looked properly you would have seen Cole in that very own hole But wait! Where is the Cole that was in that very own hole? Oh I forgot that Cole was also sold After you realized our home was never really cold All the money that you got hold, and never told From that stranger who took you on that stroll You sold me and you sold my soul. But you see I don’t feel sorry for me I feel sorry for the ones that will come after me Their childhoods will be full of glee ??????????????????????????Running and jumping all over the place like beach flea But their adulthoods will not be so free Between them they will constantly disagree From their homes and countries they will flee Because they felt that no one cared for thee. The ones after me will struggle Because of all the things you smuggled The ones after me will struggle Because they just couldn’t juggle The ones after me will not snuggle Their actions will be worse than that of free animals running wild in a jungle. You sold me, you sold all of us, You sold a generation Now they have no souls Just because you had your own goals Goals that involved a body for a roll Objectives that involved a soul for a poll. We were sold By our very own blood Now sit back and watch the flood Turn our once beloved land into a pot full of mud.
