Poem
Some time ago you left this mortal place. Dear mom, I think of you laid in the ground. Without you still I find my mind embraced in questions of the afterlife you found. My days are weary, saddened by the gloom of missing you and wasting precious time. Please come to me to sooth this constant doom; My happy steps of life once more to climb. Please send a sign that you are living now within the world of souls with God above. Please let me know if you can hear me—how I'll come to know you're safe in heaven's love. My thoughts of you bring tears I have to fight; now I retire to rest my weary head. Please come to visit me this lonely night while I lay sleeping soundly in my bed. In dream that night, she stood beside her grave— this vision opened a new life for me. With smile and hand held high, she gave a wave and 'whispered words of wisdom—let it be.' Sandra M. Haight ~1st Place~ Contest: Songs of Power - Let It Be Sponsor: Silent One Judged: 11/21/2015 ============================================================ Quote by Paul McCartney: "So those words are really very special to me, because not only did my mum come to me in a dream and reassure me with them at a very difficult time in my life – and sure enough, things did get better after that – but also, in putting them into a song, and recording it with the Beatles, it became a comforting, healing statement for other people too." Up until the last line of my poem, which is a line from Paul McCartney's song, my poem is true. In my dream, my mother's smile and wave for me was my 'let it be'.
