Poem
I lay awake and watch you sleep, I gave you my heart, it's now yours to keep. Pulling me close, you taught me to dance. Her head on my chest..l'm taking a glance. The most beautiful girl that I've ever kissed. This girl that I dreamed of, this girl that I missed. Your arms wrapped around me holding me tight. I sat there just watching..late into the night. As you slept I leaned in, lightly kissing your face. My heart started to pound, then beginning to race. My fingers I ran through the length of your hair. I've come a great distance, to show how I care. This beauty I watched as we slept in her bed. Or is this a dream inside of my head? A love come along after so many years. To heal our souls, to dry up our tears. We're no longer kids and no longer young. It took but one kiss, a new loves begun. . With our eyes open wide, we know who we are. Both looking to heaven and wishing on stars. So I'm laying right here, our bodys entwined. Watching her sleep, reading her mind. I've told her I love her, thats no minor thing. She told me she loves me, to her smiles I bring. As I lay in her bed watching her breathe. Touching her face, never wanting to leave. But leave I must do, as hard as it is. Like the years long ago, back when she was his. I'm laying awake her head on my chest. If she gave me a chance, I'd give her my best. My beauty she sleeps in my arms for one night, and I know I must leave with mornings first light. I'm sitting up now, just watching you sleep. As quiet as can be, not making a peep. I'm touching her face so lightly, so soft. If we were found out, I'd pay what it cost. As the morning arrives and my beauty she wakes. So softly I press my lips to her face. She opens her eyes, she must start her day. I don't want to leave to my place far away. The coffees been brewed, our clothes are laid out. I look to the clock, the hours I count. I only will think of watching her sleep. We've both traded hearts and traded for keeps. As the calendar turns, as the time passes by..we'll think of this night and never ask why. I'll count off the days, while remembering this night, the time that we shared, the hugging so tight. I know that I'll miss her most everyday, but someday Ill come and be there to stay. Remembering that night, the love that we made..... Then watching her sleep....and wishing I stayed. RJM2015
