Poem
I He came from a land of ice and snow, It was a forgotten place frozen in time; And he was the only son of the King, He was Icelus, a champion warrior. But the King was unsettled and angry, He demanded an heir to the throne; But Icelus had rejected every maiden, In the land none were to his liking. Now King Hypnos was so furious, He sent Icelus in search of a bride; Do not come back until you have her, So Icelus turned himself into a bird. Oh yes he had many magical powers, And flew away into the azure blue sky. II He was a majestic and powerful eagle, Soaring over the rugged white tundra; He looked in all the King's many lands, But no maiden stirred his heart to love. He flew to the top of a snow mountain, To the temple of Eros the God of Love; He pleaded with him for his assistance, Eros cast a spell and created a vision. In the vision Icelus saw a beautiful girl, Her long raven hair flowed like a cloak; And in the vision he could see her wings, But sadly they were shattered and useless. Who was this angel with shattered wings, Her eyes deep pools and he fell in love. III He asked Eros, for guidance to find her, And was told she was in the far future; Send me Eros, oh send me to her time, And with a magic spell he was gone. He found himself in an old cold cemetery, Confused until he heard her sad weeping; Then he saw her standing by a moss tomb, Magically he again transformed himself. Into a black cat and went over to her, He rubbed himself against her so sweetly. And she reached out for him tenderly, Asking him, are you lost poor little cat. She picked him up and took him home, Kissing him and cradling him all night. IV The next morning the cat was gone, Sad, was the girl with the shattered wings; She walked a forest path calling for him, And a man appeared, oh so handsome. She looked into his eyes and saw love, He reached out and caressed her wings; And instantly, those wings were healed, Then he told her about his frozen land. He promised her a beautiful ice castle, She knew that they could never be apart; And magically Icelus suddenly had wings, And the girl spread out her healed ones. And together they soared into the sun, Living happily everafter in an ice castle. _____________________ November 5, 2015 Poetry/Epic/Ice Castle Copyright Protected, ID 15-723-880-0 All Rights Reserved.
