Poem
My room was holding me captive I felt like I was dead, when all I wanted was to be alive It was nearly two in the morning Except for me, the whole world was busy sleeping Or love making, or even lost in a sweaty embrace I felt like now, no more the world would I be able to face The weight of life felt heavy I wanted to break the routine's monotony I got out of bed and went out into the night I live close to a mountain, having a river by its side How lovely was this dark sight I felt like I was sitting right by the Lord's abode The winds caressed my skin Shadows to me seemed to be saying Be not scared of us, we mean you no harm Rather, we wish you would see our charm See you, we are also part of creation So why do you fear us, do we imply damnation Do we imply that somewhere does be Heaven and somewhere else, Hell That someday, somewhere, you shall be judged, yes you shall I sat and looked at the shadows Ghosts seemed to be dancing, lost in their own sorrows I wanted to be comforted But only my tears came, even if they were unwanted Scared was I not, Rather, I felt lost Life did not explain everything Like why does light and shadows do be side by side, dancing! Shadows, hiding my broken stories Shadows, bearing my hidden scars Shadows, to them, on this day, at this time, I do bear out my soul Shadows, pray, I wish God Himself would answer my endless call Wanting to be free I removed my clothes and basked in my own nudity Shadows did come and enveloped my body Shadows did lift me up and held me in their custody Shadows being none but a complete mystery For I woke up in my bed I woke up feeling like the shadows I had never tempted Why, now shall I only hope that the world shall believe my story! For shadows do scare me not Shadows do be made of warmth! Shadows, of the dark Devil, do be not Shadows, I strongly believe, do be made of warmth! 2 Nov 2015 Anoucheka Gangabisson Contest : Trashed #4 Sponsor : Broken Wings
