Poem

Right now in my life I’m at a turning point
Trying to be an adult and not disappoint
I realize I’m not a child anymore
But I don’t know what my future has in store

Taking on the challenges of living on my own
Planting life within the ground and having those seeds sown
Driving a car, paying bills while going to school
Not living with my parents; under my own rule
Finding a career; something I’m good at and enjoy
Trying to find a full time job or place that will employ
Trying to find a wife with whom I’ll settle down
Finding a home and raising kids in a quiet homely town
Growing up and trying to make something of myself
But all of this cannot be done unless you find yourself

I know that all my poems may seem contradictory
One moment I seem really down and then talk about victory
One moment I talk about heartache, then about purpose
I’m trying to express my emotions that lie below the surface
Everyday I battle things that lie within my mind
But I try to give others hope, assist them, and be kind
I’m at a point in my life where I’m trying to find myself
My future now is much too hazy and won’t reveal itself

I thank you for reading these poems and letting me speak my mind
Maybe some inspiration or hope from these words you’ll find
I’ll still keep searching for the answers to find what life’s about
For now my life’s a mystery; I’m trying to figure it out
