A Letter To My Son Shawn (1967-1999) You left so suddenly shocking all of us who loved you We could not understand why God called you Home You were so young and it seemed so unfair Yet I must admit this old world is in a lot of trouble With all the hate crimes against each other increasing Mother Nature appears to be losing her battle with A society that seems to be Hell-bent on destroying The health of this here planet It's insanity But I know God will make it right in His time And restore the world to its former glory I am grateful that you are among the angels in the Presence of The King of Kings Please pray for us down here, Dear. Your wife Shawna was surely a God send Divine Her parents so good to you treating you very kind It seemed they gave you wings, taught you to fly I should have known you were being prepared for the journey To your Heavenly Home Your friend Chris Peoples has gone through some heartaches And I've not seen him for quite some time it's true But I think of him and know , like me, He's missing you.. How often your brother Jimmy cries silently Curled up on a couch never sharing the gut-wrenching agony There are times when a mother has little to do but pray and sigh Knowing her youngest son is struggling without words to say goodbye. Loni is still Loni and I know you loved her Dear. As you loved her son.....of you children had no fear. Tony Greco has no doubt joined you in the Land beyond You might still have a tab unpaid to the King Eddy, Shawn. Your Father here on Earth is wonderful still today I know he hurt deeply when God took you away How close your hearts were bonded becoming as if one While still in Heaven you chose your father and he his son Time passes slowly and in spirit it seems you remain Your smile, your scent and presence visit time and time again. Garth Brooks still sings your favourite song on the radio, "Looking Back" intervenes precisely when I'm feeling low. Your laughing eyes peek through the clouds that decorate the sky, As if to say, "Mom, I'm OK ..please mom don't cry." That's when I feel a trembling deep within my soul's heart Knowing you were never really mine but God's Child from the start A precious Gift on loan ..I now know this is true An Angel wrapped in God's Love with smiling Irish eyes of blue. Snow flakes have just begun to fall as I pen this song. Coincidental? I don't think so... It's another "Hello" from Shawn.
