Poem
The dark perils of this expectant city Through the eyes of a man lost in transit Complete the fall, expel the pity. Tattered shoes lead the man through the smoke Even the stars look on with interest now The silhouette will breathe and choke. The dress may sparkle, the eyes deceive The Blood Street curdles with life and excess Hearts will wander, yet happily conceive. Fingernails tap on the pane of enjoyment Causing tremors on the red beating Richter Searching for alternate ways of employment. "There's no one else like you," he concedes A smile is currently working its way out The fruit waiting to divulge of its seeds. The door is fastened and the velvet drawn too There is no action, just conversation Topics from now through the night until dew. Although once lost, he has since returned On a scale that some would consider excessive The rope that was useful can finally be burned. My fear has overtaken and my interests are sharp As the silence wears thin between us Her voice is as sweet as a lonely harp. But now I have tasted I cannot retract You openly swear that you reciprocate You love me, encircled, close the final act. We dance with the concerns of the day And live with the errors that fill our nights I trust I will see you, Lady May. ©2014 Jonn Walker NB - This poem is featured in Jonn Walker's book of poetry "Clay Streets" and is available to buy from http://www.feedaread.com/books/Clay-Streets.aspx
