Poem

Condemnation- surrounds, engulfs and consumes me.
More than any other, I condemn myself.
Beatings and lashings that leave me unrecognizable- still I bear the bag of burdens, 
  punishing myself.
The guilt of what I have done, the unloyalty of my actions.  I look only to find in 
  myself a disgrace.
And yet, you beckon me to receive your mercy, to be forgiven by your grace and still 
  I hold to condemnation.
I punish myself more harshly than you- you long to love me.
Only you can release me from the prison of my past, the bondage of guilt and shame.  
You can help me soar, but only when I trust.
Trust that all my flaws and faults don't make me less- admitting them makes me more.
So set down the bag and leave it behind you say.  Come enjoy life with me.
I will follow you, and pleasure together we will find.
