We Were Two Broken Hearts By: Aidan Gilbert Stormy night Muscles tensed a little too tight I tried to forget about you From love I could start new But when I said I’ll loose you I lied But telling myself that I don’t want to try Love is so powerful It destroys my soul Making each day a new low But it also made me feel so strong Something telling me what we had wasn’t that wrong Our love had a special magic to it Tearing at every emotion I thought it could never hit I know I’m weak But sorrow and desire from me leaks What do I say To love I’m a slave It kills me every single day From my heart’s tore Emotions from missing you pour My heart can’t take it anymore But on the outside I’m too stubborn to cry Too stubborn to accept that my feelings for you never died But then you show up at front door wanting me back Guess there wasn’t something I lacked When I opened the door and saw your face My stubbornness left and our love I could trace But I left my empty heart a little to vast You saying, “I love you,” came a little too fast Your emotion flooded me like a storm Changing my hearts form I don’t ask why you did this to me Something tells me this was destiny I now know once more your face I had to see Maybe we just needed a little break But this doesn’t mean our former hurt is fake Something beyond us wanted us to work it out It put your motorcycle to my house’s route Well, now you’re here with me You’re my key Come in and dance with me Outside in the rain is now place for you Our sad love turned to joy and was made new Now you don’t have to look at me through a photograph Now in person I can hear you laugh For each other we were meant Through your broken heart to me you were sent So to dance you moved all the furniture This time this love will work out for sure Your voice I don’t want to hear I just want to be held near I just want to feel your breath I want you and nothing less I want to stay forever in the moment This time with nothing to resent So now I’m being held to our song Nothing about this feels wrong Then when the clock struck midnight I was in your arms and in your sight You gave me a kiss I haven’t had in a while Got my heartbeat running a million miles I have right now the taste of your lips Your warm hands on my hips Everything is perfect We were two broken hearts Healed with love when we rushed back to the start So you can keep me Until it’s time to leave
