Poem
Opening my eyes everyday and always blessing the world I remember a time when walking just on grass or gravel Not sidewalks or tar, or just having shoes on my feet This is bare with all the feelings, hot, sharp, cold, and wet Never once I swore with my bare feet, because I had no shoes I would whoop and holler but I ran fast through the hot sand I was always glad that I could do such a thing and not frown Having such feelings of having such feelings made me feel alive Some are not lucky just to have legs or arms or shoes or clothes We as individuals always want more for the wrong reason When did we become this way? To horde and to be so greedy I have too much, but I still gather things why is that? I do realize I can give most of the things I have away But knowing that when I do the people that I give it to They would sell it, or trade it or just horde it for themselves I open my eyes and I don’t mind giving it to people who need it I open my eyes to people who treat people with kindness I open my eyes to actions that are freely given for the right cause Never once I take to just take, that is stealing in my eyes I ask or if they have extra I know to ask, if they say no It’s because they have a better plan for the extra I do not need any more things; I am making things now to give I paint pictures, I don’t mind it being free, and I love what I see I will have enough to spare, give, and share, to the whole world I won’t complain because I will have enough for all to see Just like when I was young really I just wanted to walk Walk alone, or by someone, and most of all just walk free Through rain, sand, tar, gravel, and even grass I cherish my arms and the things I had on as a child I was so care free, nothing could ever bother me, accept Crying kids that had less than me, so I freely gave My slippers, my shirt, and sometimes I gave them hugs That was just the way I was, I now know why I am who I am, because looking back at my childhood I had really not much, I did not need much I had my world, my brothers, and myself that is all I needed
