Learning By The Living.


Life's roads we all travel down
mistakes we think we've made.
Living for the memories
that we could never trade.

Finding set backs now and then
in things not meant to last.
Picking ourselves up again
then moving slowly past.

Finding out the secrets
of love that came our way.
Taking time from time to time
to kneel down and pray.

Struggling sometimes to forget
the chains that one time bound us.
Missing out now and again
on little joys that found us.

Each day moving forward
even if just bit by bit.
Somehow reaching deep within
and finding we can't quit.

It's as if the peace we find
it finds us instead.
It's a matter of the heart
that's too long in our head.

Keeping score along the way
becoming more and more forgiving.
A student for a lifetime
it's called learning by the living.
