Poem
Where You Are I see suspicion in your eyes, you know I know you're going through hell. You think I'm like the others, and there's people I'll run and tell. It's not to say I'm better. In a million years I won't do that. You need not wonder “Am I lying?” I've been right where you're at. Your friends and even family swear nothings going on. Making you feel more alone when you know that something's wrong. They don't stop and laugh and joke or pass the time away. If you met them in the kitchen they wouldn't have too much to say. You search your soul for answers, you don't know what to do. Lost in the betrayal, that they call helping you. Your heart breaks as your hand shakes you feel vibes that they aren't sending. Or is it true? They lie to you and then go on pretending. If only one of them in love that's known you from your youth. Could bring themselves to come to you and talk to you in truth. I may not be the one you need I'm not your father or your mother. I'm not a friend of your best friend or your sister or your brother. But I'm better than to think so low that you don't realize. An honest open act of love will not hide behind ones lies. So if there's something you need to say but you're consumed with doubt. I may be the best you got, now's your chance to let it out. Or maybe you don't want to talk and even you aren't quite sure why. There ain't one soul I'm going to tell if you hang your head and cry. We all sometime have lost our way, our lives just slip off track. I'm not here to judge you. I'm here to help you back. I won't burden you with my story or tell you about my fall. But I'll warn you now before you start, there is One that I tell all. There's no secrets to keep hidden and there's nothing I won't share. When I drop to my knees tonight to lift you up in prayer. Asking God to send you angels and to help you to endure. As you walk through this fire that's meant to make you pure. Life sometimes can be so cruel in this world we all live in. Except for Him I'll tell no one cause where you are, I've been. Edwin C Hofert
