Poem
It was during the time of the feast Yea Jesus was around But the love we have for him today was only shared by a few The high priest didn't want anything to do with the crime that would save the lives of the few and the ones that came after the blood was shed Betrayed by one of his own with a kiss on the cheek Denied three times by the one with all the love for him This is the story set up for Jesus’ last days that would go on record to save the world He was brought to the high priest accused of many things Not a word he said because of what he knew He knew he would die a death that would save you and me By a choice that the priest couldn't make himself So he left the choice for the people of the world who chose to let a murderer go free As they shouted the words "Crucify him" They placed a crown of thorns on his head and made him carry his own cross to his death They screamed and shouted words at him along his way to Calvary Only one man was asked to help him along his way Once he reached Calvary they nailed his hands and feet to the cross He drank from a cup that consisted of wine and myrrh Myrrh the very same gift he was given at birth Between the hours of noon and three the land became dark and soon they would see As Jesus called to his father and asked for forgiveness The words "forgive them father for they know not what they do" came from his mouth At the foot of the cross his mother was there too As she watch her first born die for the same people that nailed him for his death As Jesus took his last breath he spoke the words "it is finish" and light came back to the land They pierced his side and blood was shed They took his body and placed it in a tomb And what Jesus said in the word was about to come to true Because early on the third day Jesus arose from the dead And the stone was rolled away When the ladies went with sweet spices to anoint the anointed one To their surprise they found an empty tomb Then began to spread the word that our savior lives Now we have the grace and love that stood the test of time
