Poem
With a voice as soft as a warm breeze on a cold night. Her brown big eyes glitter like pearls straight from an oyster’s shell. I felt my senses tingle in excitement as she reached for my hand. Walking down the aisle I studied her hair. Hair filled with rough edges, like a tangle mess of wool. The scent flowing from her being,a pleasure to my nostrils. The click of her heels making a sound; Like an applause after a Toni Morrison lecture. A sight for sore eyes, I would say. Her walk flawed at a pace of beauty and pride. The curve of her neck set; like a bed of roses, A neck that deserved a sting like a bee on a honeycomb. Her lips were a crimson red. Parting as she looked at me and smiled. Her hips were graced; wider than most; Covered in a silk, loose fabric of white. I swear my heart was melting. Her covered breasts were firm and round. Clinging to nothing but that thin fabric of white. She had told me it was the splendor of purity. The wisdom of wine left to mature. The abundant favor of loving oneself enough to preserve. No one deserved a piece unless granted by her Father. But you see it wasn't her appearance that had stolen my heart. It was her wisdom beyond her age. Her fear of the one who sits at the throne. Her bowed head when her knees kissed the floor. As she sang praises from the depth of her soul. When she recited all the words in red. I could see her covered in glory. I could feel her covered in his presence. I was in love with a woman. I was in love with a woman; Who had took my hand and led me. Led me down the aisle as a crowd looked on, singing. She had led me before a messenger; A messenger whose hand had covered me; She had led me to the King himself. His mercy had overflowed me at the end of that aisle. Feeling overpowered and gracious, I had fell to my knees. I cried with joy, I cried with pain. Mostly I was thankful. I was in love with a woman. Who the King had sent to find me. Who I will always be thankful for. I was in love with a woman. I was in love my heavenly given sister. Whose selflessness had amazed me But mostly I was in love with her King. Who had instantly become my King. Who can become anyone’s king. Anyone’s king once you are guided by the spirit. Or in my case had sent a his anointed one. I had fallen in love with my King. © Herzel Poshiwa P:S We all can be that kind of a person if we take time to teach the word God.
