Poem
The Vision The vision, God’s glimpse of my near – but distant future He has placed with care as seed within my womb, and has entrusted me with the task of nurturing it and to see it has not a premature tomb. For you see, caring for a vision is much like an expectant mother awaiting for the birth of her babe, planning and preparing for this new role she will have ahead and joyfully awaiting for that day. Yet a woman with child is not without moments of darkness and trials along her uncertain track, struggling with times of trembling and times of fear it all being a part of waiting and not wanting to turn or look back. And, as when I was with child, I would walk the floor crying out to my Father above, needing more of His strength, His touch, His voice and being assured by His wonderful love. Sadly, more than once, I have given up hope and have cried “Oh God, release me from this lingering pain! Of carrying this child-like vision year end and year out but then not wanting to stand guilty before Him in all of my shame. So, He added to my strength and I began to bear milk and to nurture this starving one once again, and I felt its life revive and stir within my being and together we would start down that road towards our end. And now, I know this one is soon to be born and the shadows will be a thing of the past, for this child-like vision I’ve carried so long will be standing before me at last. Written by: Marilyn S. Johnson-Jennings Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1996
