Poem
I bet I can make you feel helpless for a minute Scenario 1: Imagine being lied to by the one person you were supposed to be able to trust the most Imagine being kept in bed with that same person for the next five years Imagine being barely 36 inches tall And not being able to do anything about your situation And now imagine not knowing that you were being lied to until years later Scenario 2: Think about a woman you only met four times Imagine walking in on her crowded in a bathroom with about five other people With a needle in her arm She writes you every once in a while With winged hearts all over the envelopes You kept them in an old shoe box on the top shelf in the closet Imagine not seeing her for almost four more years Then opening an obituary in the mail Two months after she died Imagine that this woman was your mother Scenario 3: Imagine being in a room full of people And this is the most alone you will ever feel in your life Imagine silent tears falling down your face No one sees them And you know it's because people don't notice things that they don't care about Even if someone did care They wouldn't get it anyway Scenario 4: Picture the bottom of an empty bottle And standing on your feet for two hours after you just took down a fifth of tequila Lost temporarily in the illusion that the booze sets you free Scenario 5: Look in to the eyes of the one you love the most Kiss him on the cheek Then watch him walk away forever It was your last chance to say goodbye You could have said more You go to touch his face but you're shaking too much And break inside when he tells you to stay safe Because he knows what you do when he isn't around You beg him "Please, don't go down the road I did, "And for God's sake, look in the mirror and smile.." He is going to go so far You know it's better for him if you're not around You could have said more But he walked away You just pray you never see him again It'll be better for you both Scenario 6: Stare into the eyes of a therapist and try to explain why you don't sleep anymore Try and explain the nightmares you have about murder and tell her about your demons The real ones, girl, come on now "No judgement in this room." But you're only there to be diagnosed Scenario 7: Imagine screams and blood splatter pervading your dreams Imagine falling through the floor And praying to a God you know hates you Scenario 8: Look into the mirror and see the word "SLAVE" etched across your face
