Poem

I was all a matter of choice...though sometimes I felt forced
Drawn to my mad addictions by an evil magnetic force
Like a horse led down to a river that was poisoned and polluted
I drank the devils water and my soul became diluted
What was clean was made dirty 
What was pure was made filth
Slowly drowning in my sorrows
Slowly praying for quick death
My life became a battlefield
I was my own worst enemy
My mind became a prison where convicts don't go free
My heart was bound in shackles
My soul was bound in chains
I spent the minutes,days,and years in mindless misery
Until somewhere in the silence I saw a speck of light
Soon it started growing...giving sight where I was blind
Finally I made a choice...choosing life instead of death
Jesus bent those iron bars and gave me holy breath
He stripped those shackles off me
Those chains fell to the ground
He spoke a word and the prison fell with a mighty thunderous sound
Now I make good choices...cause I'm living in the light
I walk now in His presence turning wrong into His right
