(Dedication: For Ann) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The tale now mints: a hero hears A call that tints, a choice appears. It cannot be, this journey quest To cross the seas, to face the test. Denial comes brisk, no hero here To dare grave risk, new venture steer. In moments plain, a warning sums The problem strain, a harsh outcome. Our hero thinks, considers choice To face the brink, orders sure voice. Mind in clear poise, the journey starts In urgent choice, hero departs. The route goes far, in unknown grounds Fate works the stars, meets mentor sound. The sage discerns, guides the hero To face concerns, go with the flow. The hero learns, to deal with hurts What lessons earn, rise above dirt. So many times, a man must fall Forge wit and chime, rise against gall. Regret primes pain, the forward march Can seem in vain, as the pits nudge. Yet our hero braves adventure Through portals go, soul craves grandeur. Dark is the night when lights go out, Action finds light, courage feels stout. Foes and devils, he meets each face, Fights mad evil with faith and grace. Hope beyond hope the moments swift, He learns to cope as spirits sift. On and on then, the way is steep, Hurl battle plan, heart knows no sleep. So each trial greets, our hero wins, Braves weary feet, face wars unseen. Here demons prowl, fight combat fierce, Hear foreign owls as war cries pierce. Here and there meet clowns that deceive, Grim, bloody streets and crypts perceive. Dark arts confront and witchcraft swing, In battle blunt, the tricksters fling. Only the fit survive to tell, Tricks of sure wit can bravely spell. So much of pain, the journey long Can seem in vain, poise marks the strong. Dreary hours flood his world view tense, Heed pulse and blood to feel and sense. Trial after trial, the arduous road Brings a new guile, brave steps bear loads. Passion sparks mode, our hero finds The sacred code, aligns sound mind. Heart knows the way through unknown seas, And day by day, our hero sees. New mindset steers the journey path, He meets each fear, solves challenge rough. One by one he, a new man grows To mastery, survives harsh blows. Round the bend then, our hero finds Frontier most grand to uplift kind. Thus here the clash with nemesis, The giant to slash in final fists. Honour feeds poise in battle rounds, The hero's choice: final showdown. A final win over dark days, The glimpse now seen in pact that pays. A changed man comes to know the truth, To feel love sum the conquest proof. We win by touch when soul substance Can forge so much to meet distance. The battle won in grandeur's pitch, A boon now dawns to fund bold reach. No more the same, hero feels good, To live life's game, prize love's true mood. The path looks nice, the boon feels true, Tempting a vice, linger with dues. Why go home now? Here he can stay With bounty's plow, enjoy sure play. The journey's wars have ended here, Now he can soar in hard-won spheres. Tempting this bout to figure out, This roundabout in a sure route. But duty calls to make the trip, Home to know gall, once more to grip. Now conscience burns in sleepy dreams, He must return to cure the scheme. So homeward bound, our hero leaves, Quest purpose found to save lost grief. At home at last, our hero brings New hope to thrust a brand new fling. An inspired way can show us how To dare bold stay and live right now. So each new tale, no matter where: Monomyth sails, actions forge fare. The hero greets where mankind walks, The journey fits: Who walks the talk? All tales take root in monomyth, Walk foot by foot and glimpse the drift. Each of us must know our own place, In boom and bust, live time and space. Leon Enriquez 23 November 2014 Singapore
