Poem

Larry was a rooster
Who couldn’t judge the time
He would crow all through the night
From midnight until nine

He woke up the farmer
And agitated the cat
He stirred the dog from his sleep
While dozing on his mat

So the farmer had enough
And walked in the chicken shed
The animals all went quiet
No words or sounds were said

There was a hush of silence
But banging could be heard
But no sounds came from Larry
A once quite noisy bird

The farmer walked out of the shed
And he let out a smile
He had been quite busy
And been in there for a while

The animals poked their heads in
They looked and got a shock
It seemed to solve the problem
The farmer put up a clock


So the next night was quiet
Until Larry let out a cry
You see a clock was only useful
If he’d known how to tell the time.
