Poem
Out of the starting blocks he ran as fast as he could. The gun shot echoing in his soul. Took every opportunity to train for this race. He even sat in the first pew every Sunday. He took notes as he grew older too and was the first to be baptized in his youth group, yet there was always something missing. There was just one little detail that he couldn't understand. "Why is this race so hard if I have done everything that I could possibly do to prepare?" "Why does it seem that every time I get ahead a lap or two that I soon quickly fall behind?" He got down on his knees to pray and cried out to his Lord. He pleaded with God to show him where he had gone wrong. "My son, you haven't done anything wrong. I promise you this. You were falling behind because you were doing everything right and the enemy threw many obstacles in your way. You are almost to the finish line now my son and I am almost about to welcome you home with open arms." The older gentleman reflected upon his life and all the good that he had done. He had tried to begin anew. He even took a wife. He tried to help her raise her three children from a previous life. He did the best that he could do and his crown was awaiting him as he sat at the feet of Jesus. "Welcome home my son. I have been waiting for you for quite some time. I am most pleased with your race and the journey that you've run. Now that you're home your burden will be light. I have great plans for you here and a wonderful bright future working in my mail room. I created this job for you and I created you for my pleasure. Your eternity awaits you, child. Welcome home."
