Poem
January 22nd 1990, I came into this world, 7 pounds 9 ounces, a healthy little girl, Welcomed by my parents Linda and RIck, On such a lovely day as this, Oh wait no what is this, They already have two other kids, Mindy and Amanda oh that's ok, I'll have all the attention anyways, Days later I'm taken home Time flies and so on and so on, I am now the age of three, Everything is going fine, but to our suprise Mom is pregnant for the very last time, This is when Khristie arrives, A few more years pass on by It's now like 96' Mom and dad aren't seeing eye to eye and they decide to split, Eventually they get divorced and mommy disappears, Daddy get's a new wife, now Lunette is here, With Donald and Donna her two kids, Our family grows from four kids to six, Well I went from being a straight A student, To experiencing drugs at the age of twelve, After being molested life was hell, The house is now filled with so much chaos, Thank the Lord for our Grandma! She was our Rock, an angel indeed, There for anyone who was in desperate need, But she was taken by cancer when I was 15, Mom comes back in the picture, We're now gettin high together, Smoking everything from meth to crack, I was just thankful to have momma back, Suddenly she's taken again, This time it's not a man, but prison instead, I go on with my drug rampage, Not a care in the world about anything, Sleeping on park benches and in abandoned trains, Life is passing me right on by, But at this point I'm wanting to die, At this point I'm hungry and desperate, Starving for food, love and affection, So I walk around late most nights, Saling myself and getting high, Trying to cope with this situation, Everyday another tragedy I'm facin, I'm finally 17, Not the least bit grown, When a man see's my potential and decides to take me home Everything seems good for the first few weeks, But then his rages occur and he beats on me, For months and months I cover up bruises, Making excuses for a man so abusive, I did some things and got arrested, But Jail at this point was just a blessing, Eventually the cycle was on repeat, From institutions back to the streets, On a lonely rainy day, this man that I approached, He was a pimp by the name of Lo, We talked and quickly got so close, He taught me things I didn't know, Loyalty was somewhat intact, But a friendship is what we lacked, He captured me with all the right words, Being at the same time a blessing and a curse, Eventually I opened my eyes, Saw straight through his charming disguise, He used me for all the things I could do, But it was time to find someone who'd be true, So I go to rehab and check myself in, Promised myself all my problems would end, Now that I'm clean I want a new start, I'm at a friend's house sitting in the yard, Praying for a sign when I see this white car, I believe now in love at first sight, Never realized before but I was so blind, I got his number, his name is Mike, Who knew that this was the love of my life, Two years later we're still together, No secrets, no lies, and no betrayal ever, Now we have been married for about 8 months, And expecting our first little precious son! I thank God for it all and The best is yet to come!
