Poem

I have occupied this temporary shell
we call a "body" for quite some time.
longevity being a relative  concept.
Life has not always been easy,
in fact it has more often then not been quite a challenge.
I have walked blind though most  of this life.
Yes I have tasted the glories and delights
Of this world, of which I am a part.
But only very recently have I seen the truth!


i have throughout my life been tantalized 
with the Oneness of all that is,
Had many guides offer to open the door
And yet, I only took a cursory look.
unwilling to take the leap
unwilling to lose myself
Whoever that is!


I chose a parallel road instead.
battling the forces of injustice
taking the side of the every man
I did good work,
my ego momentarily satisfied,
but the mind lives in a dualistic world, 
is uncomfortable in a place
where all is connected, all is one!
where the heart runs the show.


My body has suffered in this lifetime
consequently, my mind as well.
this time around 
I'm being taught to 
SURRENDER!
My eyes are as new,
Seeing much for the first time
Seeing that only through the heart
can we open the gates of heaven.
only though LOVE
can I isolate my pain, and separateness
and know they are not me.


If we follow the path through the heart
only then can we experience God!
not as separate, but as another  
Part of the WHOLE!
