Poem
Oh Robin my friend, I am writing this to you in the present tense not the past, because to me you will always be here with us, now, and forever. I do however want to say a few things about when I first met you back in 1966, we were both high school kids, in Marin County you were a Redwood High student in Larkspur and I was a student at Drake High in San Anselmo, our schools had a huge rivalry between them, and there was one time when some kids from Redwood came by Drake and wrote "Redwood Rules" in red paint all over our school buildings, so some kids from Drake snuck over to Redwood and put green dye in Redwoods Olympic pool. Well, a bunch of kids from both schools decided to have a fight, well, you and I were smart and we decided to go downtown with some other kids from both schools to our favorite pizza place and call a truce, later some of the kids who were in the fight came in with black eyes and bloody lips and they were so angry with us that we didn't show up at the fight. I recall this Robin because you took over with your supreme gift of gab and humor and completely calmed everyone down. You were absolutely wonderful. You would have made an awesome U.S. Secretary of State. In later years, we both went to school at College of Marin. You were a Drama Student and I saw your immense talent for acting even then. I remember one of the times I picked you up in my 1963 Galaxie 500, you were hitchhiking, and you started making all these weird sounds, I asked what's that man, you proceeded to tell me you were an alien from another planet and went into this rant that had me laughing so hard I had to pull over to keep from having an accident! Robin, I consider myself so lucky to have met and known you back when we were just kids. I know that you are still with us and are probably reading my words as I write them. My old friend, the world has quite literally been blessed with your presence, your humor, your brilliant mind. I will not say I will miss you, because to me you will always be here, but I will say that I LOVE YOU BROTHER, always and forever! Robert ROBIN WILLIAMS - KING OF COMEDY And THOUGHTFULNESS!
