From my window, Ash white bark appears in criss cross formation,
Revealing thickets of frost covered spruce
And red holly berries,
Swinging high in the bright sunny day.

Though the world presses hard and forebodingly 
Against my quiet haven
And shards of stark harshness
Crush and defile from the outside world,
Nature prevails with glimmering views of the devine--
A blessing to be felt and a serenity to hold.

I sit in repose where I can look to our God,
Dwelling amongst us,
As thickets of bright bare branches shift and bend, 
And full boughs of silver needles
Paint a glittering stroke across the winter’s cold sun.
