Walking that silent midnight avenue
On the other side of a frosted pane
Dim radiance beckoning out my name
I stop captivated by it’s unremarkable light
What would I encounter beyond the window
Would I feel its warmth were I to enter inside?
Yet… emptiness fills the void of these walls
Hushed and frozen with the scent of foreboding
No flecking of movement beyond the glass
Gazing harder I examine the surface seeing my eyes
Am I gaping upon myself within this looking glass?
Won’t someone explain this vision…where is hope
Flooding back it returns everything to its crux
The core of the epoch on the edge of existence
Pulling into a moment of lucidity I stand questioning
Have I left this world for something beyond?
How did I arrive at this moment…when did I turn?
No proclamation guiding my footfalls
This task has fallen at my feet and I am unsure
Yet I am static and filling with dread
Am I alive?
Have I been born into the world I desire?
The heavens are monochrome above me
A heavy harrowing scent lies in the air
No stars to navigate by
I fear this enveloping darkness that circles like a carrion
I call to you…show me the brilliance of light
