Poem
Struck by lightning – Writer’s block I came to believe that I have a hard time sorting out my thoughts into each file… Into eloquent verses and the pain worsens... As I see paper flying all around me, I'm a fish without fins Running this race with beads of sweat, Trickling down my weary body – My muscles are as hard as a rock (*Chorus* I wouldn’t mind letting you know How much I beg for your mercy to sprinkle grace upon my wings day in and day out I will not let you down again like I did before I didn’t give in to temptation today - that’s something to be proud of me for! I chose a different route and I accepted your corrections with an open heart and an open mind I was once blind, but now I see I was once faithless, but now I have faith I was once hopeless, but now I have hope I was once bleak, but now I’m joyful I used to wear a frown like a rejected clown, But now I won’t let discouragement bring me down) Blowing out each and every candle… It’s pitch-dark in here Lying in bed with aching feet, Attempting to sleep, But I have a horrid headache Trying to close my eyes, But to no avail The voices in my head make me accept the night and its chaotic curses (*Chorus* I wouldn’t mind letting you know How much I beg for your mercy to sprinkle grace upon my wings day in and day out I will not let you down again like I did before I didn’t give in to temptation today - that’s something to be proud of me for! I chose a different route and I accepted your corrections with an open heart and an open mind I was once blind, but now I see I was once faithless, but now I have faith I was once hopeless, but now I have hope I was once bleak, but now I’m joyful I used to wear a frown like a rejected clown, But now I won’t let discouragement bring me down) A lion approaches me – I’m astonished and scared out of my wits Give me peace in mind and I won’t ever ponder upon anything pitiful… Anything or anyone unreliable or vile, But you are my beloved halo Without you hanging around me like a hanger on a string, There's no need to rejoice (*Chorus* I wouldn’t mind letting you know How much I beg for your mercy to sprinkle grace upon my wings day in and day out I will not let you down again like I did before I didn’t give in to temptation today - that’s something to be proud of me for! I chose a different route and I accepted your corrections with an open heart and an open mind I was once blind, but now I see I was once faithless, but now I have faith I was once hopeless, but now I have hope I was once bleak, but now I’m joyful I used to wear a frown like a rejected clown, But now I won’t let discouragement bring me down) Without you here to speak my mind, I drown in my tears of pity I sing with a sorrowful voice Do you notice the rain, drizzling down my eyes in a flurry? I stray in the ancient-green wilderness of my mind I am weighed down by merciless gravity...could it be? (*Chorus* I wouldn’t mind letting you know How much I beg for your mercy to sprinkle grace upon my wings day in and day out I will not let you down again like I did before I didn’t give in to temptation today - that’s something to be proud of me for! I chose a different route and I accepted your corrections with an open heart and an open mind I was once blind, but now I see I was once faithless, but now I have faith I was once hopeless, but now I have hope I was once bleak, but now I’m joyful I used to wear a frown like a rejected clown, But now I won’t let discouragement bring me down) ***bridge*** This fear’s so unbelievable Insecurity is haunting my mind, but your mercy is sent to my front porch! But, God sends me mercy on my front door If I can see your face once more...my mind would scorch (into flames of rage)... Maybe someday, my writer's block will vanish. I hope it would be soon - that is my only wish.
