Poem

Every day of my life I am there for everyone since a child
Knowing we all have a battle to fight though to others it seems mild
I’ve supported everyone and been the person who can just stand strong
No one ever asks am I okay maybe I’ve been doing it for far to long.
But the pain gets stronger so for one day only today is for ME
Its time to give myself care and stop fighting for other just to be.
For today is for me tomorrow I know I will be back supporting everyone
But today is all about me for a change till the day is gone.

Everyone’s battles are just as important and important to me
But in fighting everyone else’s my own battle I forgot to see
The pain is to bad today to fight for another today needs to be about self care
My days are growing shorter and of this I am now very aware
So please forgive me but for today, today is for me.
I look at myself and the person this pain has twisted me into I see.
It’s not who I wanted to be but I have to understand and love it even so.
Then tomorrow I can go back to being there for everyone once this person I know.

I’ve become a shadow of my former self angry at the world and life
But through my defiant strength people only glimpse a little of my strife
So today is for me to work out how I go on and find away to fight 
To find a way to keep going and in the darkness find the new light 
I know there’s a silver lining to ever disaster but finding it is key 
So today is for me so the silver lining I can find so I can get back to me
Putting myself first is not something I like to do 
But right now it’s the only way to find a way to get through

So please forgive me taking time just for me
But tomorrow I will be back caring for you will see
