Poem

I’d been cast aside as rubbish,
Weathered, cracked and chipped,
Abandoned and unwanted,
My world had stopped and tipped.
Worn and used for all my worth,
Stress and time had taken toll,
Just like that I was alone,
I lost my love, and lost control.
I plummeted with open eyes,
I saw it all, an instant blur,
I hit the ground and lost myself,
Bits of me are all there were.
I lay there broken into pieces,
Shattered far beyond repair,
Depressed, obsessed, and sick with anger,
Content to live in my despair.
But one thing that I keep forgetting,
When I’m caught up in my misery,
Is that beauty’s found in every corner,
And someone found it within me.
Although I’d never be a sculpture,
Immaculate and without flaw,
He picked up my fragmented soul,
And found inspiration in what he saw,
He took all of my pieces,
And then mixed them with his own,
He saw we’d both been ripped apart,
And couldn't be re-sewn.
His love became our mortar,
As he pieced us back together,
Not the way we used to be,
But into something better.
It fused and plastered to our hearts,
Cementing our new shape,
A mosaic, a new work of art,
Held together, glue and tape.
We set and dry and harden up,
And both step back to see,
No longer are we bent or broken,
Or looked at as debris.
We are stunning and breath-taking,
Crafted from passion and trust,
Like a phoenix born from ashes,
We've resurrected from the dust.
