"The Long Con"

Tell me that it’s just a ruse
And I’m just a bit confused
That every single thing I do
Is getting further from the truth

I’ll gender-bend
You’ll condescend
Don’t make amends
Against your wind

Let’s just assume
That I’m immune
To changing tides
Of every moon

No wasted lines
Where this aligns
My every sign
Of tired crimes

So quote your rules
Just give me fuel
Tell me I’m a fool
Simply missing tools

Today I walk alone
On top of broken bones
Don’t pick up the phone
You’ll hear me turn to stone

One day I’ll be old
Outside your fold
Despite the cold
I’ll hold a special mold

I’ll speak again
Through a grin
With thicker skin
You’ll never win

These smile lines
Are not divine
It’s our design
We intertwine

So who am I?
Look in my eyes
Blue as the sky
Don’t tell me why

I’ll figure out
Without a doubt
A better route
My hope devout

Searching forever
For warmer weather
The noose I’ll sever
We made together

I’m not a little bit confused
But your words still left a bruise
Until the day this life is used
There’s nothing left for me to lose
