As the intensity of her tears fell upon deaf ears
I too like everyone else abandoned her 
I hid in the closet for what seemed like days  
This had become a daily regiment
The routine of you being pommeled & stripped of your identity & individuality
Me trying to escape the sounds that had become all to familiar
Being the coward that he was 
Afraid of your strong will to bounce back from his brutality, 
Fear of his incapability to break you, 
I often wondered did this give him validation of his manhood
The room grew still... 
I knew he had passed out in a drunken stupor from all the excitement
I emerged, your battered body appeared to be 
Tossed in a corner like trash waiting to be thrown away
Now I know you were BEATEN, BRUISED but NOT BROKEN, A SURVIVOR
