Poem
A child was playing by a sidewalk one day Too young to understand the ways of a drunk man Not knowing the danger just a few feet away Laughing aloud across the street he ran He never made it to the other side That very day it all began Hit and killed by a drunk driving his car Don't they know it the biggest crime of all To run a baby down and just watch him fall To leave in a mothers arms a lifeless doll That broken hearted mother knelt by his little bed In her hand she held his tiny shoe As she realized the pain she'd face ahead That child's mother could have easily been you Don't they know its the biggest crime of all To leave a mother without her baby at all Staring at his picture she held in her hand As the tears poured down her face She Knew no one could ever take his place That child's broken hearted mother A silent prayer she said To all of you who drinks then drives please don't leave us with empty beds Mothers pray for the safety of your babies ahead Don't they know it's the biggest crime of all To drink and get behind a wheel to drive at all To run our babies down and not even see him fall Leaving us mothers with only memories of it all That broken hearted mother has something she wants to share Lord, teach those drinkers what they need to know And for us mothers Lord, please hear my pray
