Poem
Northern lights on the horizon The evening winds blow even the stars in the sky With the night comes darkness With the night 1000 dreams Inside is warmth Outside is harshness Blizzards from the north shall arrive soon A blinding hell of whiteness Aua will speak The wisdoms of ancient times For we have no gods We have only fear The anirniit will persist They, like the snow are white and eternal From the beginning of time they fall from the sila One must always honor what nature reflects upon us At the end of life Our journeys only begin We are cast out from the darkness of our beings The perils of world we have yet to see Haunted in the total blindness of white The skies shall consume us We shall live in eternal fear, forever Of a White death Notes: Aua is an Aangakkuq ( shaman ) in Inuit Anirniit means the "soul or spirit" of things Sila = the sky in Inuit If I have made any errors in spelling or grammar or use of these words feel free to let me know. As we associate white with goodness and purity, and black with evil and darkness, I rather enjoyed turning the tables a bit!
