Poem
Monsieur L'Vampyre Meets Santa Claus I'd settled in to embers glow all tucked in wool to warm me right with wine from vines nearby that grow to help my mind in getting light and lullabyed by winds that blow from South of France, they blow all night. And with the wind; it fell all day; the snow near buried Poitiers. My chateau's hidden by the trees well off the road, and hard to find, where no one ever comes, nor sees my lifestyle if I've such a mind to come or go, as I might please with mademoiselles whom I might find. But this night was my very own to hear the blowing wind alone. When all at once I felt the glow of eyes in stony, silent stare right on my neck, and burning so, I knew that someone must be there and as I turned, his "Ho! Ho! Ho!" made murder something I might dare! All decked in red and white I guessed who he might be by how he dressed. He had a bag all filled with toys his whiskers clean and snowball white; he asked where were the girls and boys and if they always did things right! I had to say, but used no ploys, there were no children here this night! But this was his last stop he said and I could only shake my head. Says he, he'd leave the toys with me if I would only say I would give them to children yet to be, as yet unborn, he understood! This prospect sounded such to me I laughed and scoffed, just as I should, I told him vampyres can't bring life not even if I had a wife! Then told him I, "There is no way, though you may have the feeling strong!" "Ho! Ho! I know!" I heard him say "I never get addresses wrong!" And then he jumped into his sleigh and snapped his whip, and got along! But left the toys right on the floor I couldn't guess what ever for! Much later in the night there came but how, I'll never understand, dear Gina, last springs one night flame with two kids hand in hand, all frozen, yet she looked the same as beautiful as God had planned. And in her swelling, I could see a miracle, all part of me. Then emptied I, so we could play the bag that Santa left that night so here they are, and here will stay to fill my life with pure delight! And I can still hear Santa say "Ho! Ho! I know! I'm always right!" I'll never know how Santa knew the right address for coming to! ho ho ho. © ron wilson aka vee bdosa the doylestown poet
