Jonah guardian angel Great prophet of Israel In God's path You ran away from the Lord On a passage From a seaport Of Joppa God commands everything On a ship heading away Everything in his creation He blew upon the water Sending a storm Threatening to break the ship asunder A terrified crew they began casting lots Coming to the conclusion Jonah was responsible For the raging storm He asked to be Thrown overboard A small boat from the ship They began rowing for the shore The waves they just kept getting higher Afraid of God The sailors Cast him overboard Into a storm raged sea The water became calm A sacrifice they made As the crew swore vows To God the almighty Instead of drowning Got swallowed by a whale In the belly Jonah cried Repenting with tears In the Almighty Lord's name Praising him to the highest In poetic statements salvation came from The Lord Almighty Inside the giant Of a fish For three days God commanded The whale to vomit The redundant prophet On dry land This he obeyed His master's call Walking through Nineveh's Proclaiming in forty days Destruction of the city From the weather To the whale A supernatural rescue On land his hair bleached white Ghostly his linen From the whale's stomach acid His skin pale Surprisingly the Nineveh people Believed Jonah's message Wore sackcloth Covering themselves In ashes Hiding in shame Almighty God Had compassion Sparing them in his mercy He did not destroy the city One of wickedness Israel's enemy Spared Stopping outside the city to rest God he provide a vine Shelter from the warm Baking sun Again he questioned God Jonah was very angry With the Almighty Questioning Why did he spare the enemies Sworn unto Israel Next day God provided a worm That ate into the vine Withering and dying Grew faint in the sun Jonah he complained again God scolded him severely No concern was shown for the vine What about Nineveh Population 120,000 lost souls As the story goes He spent three days In the inside of a whale The same length Our Lord Jesus In the tomb You are the salvation Of lost souls Thinking he knew better Than the Lord Who shows mercy With forgiveness To all people Who repent In a life defying God Speaking in openness With all honesty Wise is to obey The one who loves Us the most praised in the Heaven's
