Poem
We've become so numb to everything around us We see four wall Windows and doors. We hear phones And conversations We watch the clock Like it's the only thing in the world The sun rises and sets Without a thought in mind Cars always moving Always in a rush or having places to go Picking up pens or pencils Write on papers, tape and kiosks. Always moving around Always having places to go Things to do People to see We've become so numb to everything around us The trees that move in place Slowly wilting away The fields that flourish Slowly becoming scarce The plants Slowly being chemically grown The animals Slowly becoming extinct for our nourishment The air Slowly becoming unbreathable Take a second and stop Watch and see that everything is rushed Everything that is claimed important. Look around and see what we've become so numb too, There is no love when things Have little to no meaning to those Who take everything for granted, Or refuse to see the other side Of the beauty that is now destroyed. In time it'll be seen When put into place. Seen in perspective of the few who care. When people get slapped in the face Like reality showing its true colors to something more important. They'll finally see What we had was a blessing, Wishing and praying for it back After its taken away from us Yet knowing it's lost forever. Watching as humanity becomes on the brink of extinction, Like everything that was left to parish before us. With the lack of attention to anything living, And passion for technology and toys. When we have nothing left and nothing to show for But the memory of what was And what it could've been. Then, maybe just maybe Everyone will see. Just how true it is when someone says, We've become so numb to everything around us.
